Error -89120

Solved!
Go to solution

I'm (very) new to LabVIEW, so please excuse my ignorance if this is a no brainer.  While trying to run a simple DAQ project with a USB 6008 connected to three 4-20mA sensors, I keep getting Error 89120 with the following text below:

Source terminal to be routed could not be found on the device.

Make sure the terminal name is valid for the specified device. Refer to Measurement & Automation Explorer for valid terminal names.

Before this error I was receiving this error: Error 200797

An empty string was specified as a terminal name which is not supported.

Specify a valid terminal name.

Problem is, I am not sure what my 'Source' should be.  Any insight, ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi!

This is Peter Erskine in Applications Engineering at National Instruments. Thanks for contacting support!

When this error ocurrs, it is saying that a particular channel is not specified correctly in the block diagram. For example, below I have circled where I am specifying what device and channel to look at. If the device and channel you specified in the block diagram does not exist in your system, you will see error -89120. Also, if you have not specified the device and channel at all, you will see the other error that you mentioned (Error 200797)

undefined

In Measurement and Automation Explorer, you can see your devices and in quotes next to the device is its particular name. For the example bove, Measurement and Automation Explorer sees the device as " NI USB-6008 "Dev3" ".

I hope this helps!
