How Do I Activate the Full Version of LabVIEW SignalExpress?

Problem:
I recently purchased LabVIEW Full, Professional, or Developer Suite, which comes with the full version LabVIEW SignalExpress. I tried to install LabVIEW SignalExpress on a computer without my copy of LabVIEW. When I try to activate the product with the default serial number given for LabVIEW SignalExpress, I only get the limited edition (LE) version of the product.

Solution:
This problem occurs because the full version of LabVIEW SignalExpress that comes with LabVIEW Full, Professional, or Developer Suite, uses the LabVIEW serial number as its own. If LabVIEW is not installed, NI License Manager tries to use the default LabVIEW SignalExpress serial number, which is only for the LE version.  To activate follow these steps:

  1. Open NI License Manager by going to Start » Programs » National Instruments » NI License Manager
  2. Select Display Computer Information for later use 
  3. Open an internet browser and go to ni.com/activate
  4. Select LabVIEW SignalExpress as the "Product to Activate" and select the appropriate "Product Version" based on the version you are trying to activate.
  5. Select Go
  6. Enter your information making sure to use the Computer ID found in step 2 and to use the LabVIEW serial number.
  7. Select Continue to get your 20 character activation code
  8. In NI License Manager, browse in Local Licenses to NI LabVIEW Signal Express X.X » Development System » Full Version (where X.X is the product version number).
  9. Select the Activate option
  10. Select to Apply a 20 character activation code previously acquired for this computer
  11. Enter the code found in step 7 and select Next
  12. Select Finish

This should activate the full functionality of LabVIEW SignalExpress.


This is not an issue when LabVIEW is installed on the computer with LabVIEW SignalExpress because NI License Manager uses the correct serial number when the automatically activated option is selected.
