Issue Details

My Real-Time controller keeps crashing, but I am not getting any error information. Is there an error log file that stores error information?

Solution

There is a lvrt_err_log.txt error file created when the controller crashes. This information is a dump from the controller and can be useful in troubleshooting the cause of the crash.

To access this file:
  1. Open Measurement & Automation Explorer and expand Remote Systems
  2. Right-click your Remote System and select View Error Log. This will open the RT Target Error dialog window.
  3. Select the LabVIEW RT session you want to view to display the error log. To save an error log to your local machine left-click the Create Report button.
If your RT system does experience an error during operation, we can expect to find the error log in the RT System error log window, as seen below:

Additional Information

Please note that fully-operational controller will still display information in the LabVIEW error log window. These messages typically describe the operating system loaded onto the controller and the operating system initialization process.
