Using an External Trigger for IEEE-1394 Camera Image Acquisition from Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Primary Software: Vision Builder for Automated InspectionPrimary Software Version: 1.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI) and I want to trigger my IEEE-1394 camera to acquire an image using an external trigger. Is this possible, and if so, how can I do it? Solution: Yes, it is possible. You will have to connect the external trigger signal to the IEEE-1394 camera; the camera must have a trigger input. For the IMAQdx driver: Within VBAI, when configuring the Acquire Images step for the inspection, select the Acquire Image (IEEE 1394 or GigE) step. Select the Attributes tab and expand the Trigger section in the Attribute tree. Enable and configure your trigger here and click OK. For the Legacy IEEE 1394 driver: Within VBAI, when configuring the Acquire Images step for the inspection, select the Acquire Image (IEEE-1394) step. Select the Trigger tab, place a check next to the Triggered Acquisition box to enable triggering. Set the Trigger Mode, Trigger Timeout, Polarity and Control Parameters. For more information on each of these selections, refer to the Online Help in VBAI (Select the Help»Online Help...). In the Contents tree on the left, expand the following sections: Vision Builder AI Configuration Help»Configuring Inspection Steps»Acquiring Images»Acquire Image (IEEE 1394)»Control Description. If you scroll down to the Trigger Tab section, you will see the triggered acquisition details.
