Why Does a String Constant Not Work in the Serial Write/Read Example But a String Control Does?

Problem:
I am successfully sending commands with the Basic Serial Write and Read example VI, but when I change the 'string to write' control to a constant, it stops working. The command text remains the same, so what is changing?

Solution:
The string command must be entered in '\' Codes Display. When you right-click on the string control and select Change to Constant, this mode automatically reverts to the default Normal Display. You need to right-click on the constant and manually change the mode back to '\' Codes Display for your command to be sent properly.
