NI-IMAQ Operating System Compatibility

Hardware: Image Acquisition (IMAQ)

Problem:
What operating systems are compatible with the NI-IMAQ, NI-IMAQdx, and NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 hardware drivers?

Solution:
National Instruments Vision Acquisition Software (NI-IMAQ, IMAQdx, & IMAQ for IEEE 1394 drivers) support a variety of operating systems depending on the version of the driver you have installed. You can download any version of our vision software from our website. You must have a valid license for software versions 8.0 and later. The following sections describe the compatiblity of our driver with the most common operating systems:

Windows
National Instuments supports a variety of Windows operating systems depending on the version of the driver you are using. The following charts outline the compatibility with various Windows operating systems by board type (a full list including older drivers can be found in the attached image files):

Analog Frame Grabber Boards

Parallel Digital Frame Grabber Boards

Camera Link Frame Grabber Boards

NI IMAQ for IEEE 1394
The IMAQ for IEEE 1394 legacy driver is a predecessor to IMAQdx, which is the preferred driver that supports both DCAM compliant IEEE 1394 and GigE cameras.

Macintosh
National Instruments no longer supports the Macintosh operating system or the NI PCI-1408 frame grabber card. NI-IMAQ Version 1.0 was the only version of the NI-IMAQ driver designed for Macintosh support. For more information, please see Knowledge Base 2E3C9G9D: NI-IMAQ Frame Grabber Support for Macintosh Computers.

Linux
Currently, National Instruments does not provide an image acquisition driver for Linux operating systems.
