MAX Cannot Detect My RT Series DAQ Board

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>Real-Time>>PCI-7030/6030E

Problem: I just installed my Real-Time (RT) Series data acquisition (DAQ) board in my Windows 2000 system, and now it doesn't show up in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). What is wrong?

Solution: Try following these steps:

  1. First, make sure you have the most current version of NI-DAQ installed on your computer.

  2. Launch the Device Manager. Go to Start » Settings » Control Panel » System. In Windows 2000, the Device Manager can be found in the Hardware tab.

  3. Find your Data Acquisition device. Delete/Remove the entry for it.

  4. Locate any new device on your system by using the Scan for Hardware Changes button. Windows 2000 should find the PCI/PXI 7030 device in your computer. If it doesn't, contact National Instruments Technical Support.

  5. If the board is listed in Device Manager, right-click on the entry and select Properties from the pop-up menu. Navigate to the Driver tab and click on the Update Driver button.

  6. Windows 2000 needs to locate the correct .inf file. You can browse to your .inf directory (usually this is found under C:\WINNT\INF). Windows 2000 should find the correct file required to configure your board in this directory.

  7. Launch MAX and refresh the list of "Devices and Interfaces" by hitting F5. The board should now be detected by MAX. If it is not, contact National Instruments Technical Support.
