"Save" and "Save As" File Menu Choices Are Not Present in an Executable Made from the LabVIEW Test Executive Toolkit 5.1.1

Problem: Why can't I see the "Save" and "Save As" File Menu choices in my executable version of Test Executive? I am using LabVIEW 5.1.1 and version 5.1.1 of the Test Executive Toolkit.

Solution: This is due to a bug in LabVIEW 5.1.1 that shows up when you build an application that has a custom run-time menu. If the run-time menu happens to be stored in an LLB in the source code, then the menu won't show up in the application. This situation affects the Test Executive executable since the run-time menu for the Sequence Editor (you are not getting this menu, which is why you can't see the "Save" and "Save As" commands) is stored inside of the Test Executive engine.llb.

To fix this problem:
  1. Run the Patch Test Executive.vi (attached below). It will prompt you to find the engine.llb of your Test Executive. The default location for this VI is in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW\LVEXEC511.

  2. Wait for the VI to finish running (it may take 1-2 minutes).

  3. Rebuild the executable that you made from Test Executive (see the related KnowledgeBase entry linked below)
