Unable to Change Properties in Vista Due to Lack of Administrative Controls Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation ExplorerPrimary Software Version: 4.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: When I try to change some properties in Windows Vista, for example GPIB in Measurement & Automation Explorer, the properties are grayed out and I get a message that the options are not available due to a lack of administrative control. Solution: Some utilities of Measurement & Automation Explorer need to be run as administrator in order to function using Windows Vista. To run a program as an administrator, right-click on the shortcut and click on Run as Administrator. In order to set this property for any shortcut, right-click on the shortcut and click on the Properties, then click on the Compatibility tab. Click on the button for Show settings for all users, and place a check in the checkbox next to Run this program as an administrator. The application will now run with administrator permission when accessed from the customized shortcut giving it normal functionality.
