Vision Builder AI 3.0 Simple ActiveX Example Gets a Connection Failure Error When it Tries to Connect to the Local Target Primary Software: Vision Builder for Automated InspectionPrimary Software Version: 3.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: When running a Simple ActiveX Example to connect to Vision Builder AI 3.0, why do I get a connection failure? Solution: This is a known problem that occurs under special circumstances when an IEEE 1394 camera is present on the system. It happens after you have just installed your IEEE 1394 card and have not restarted your computer. This problem also happens with USB cameras. The underlying reason is that when you connect a USB or IEEE 1394 camera, Windows creates new Local Area Connection whose associated device name is Microsoft TV/Video Connection. Vision Builder AI tries to use this latest network connection to connect to the ActiveX server but since this connection is not associated with a network card, the connection fails. The Microsoft KB discusses this problem only with USB cameras but it can also happen with IEEE 1394 cameras This problem should disappear after you restart your computer. If restarting the computer does not fix your problem or you do not see a 'Microsoft TV/Video Connection' in your Networks folder when the problem occurs, then there might be another cause for the problem.
