Measuring the 100Ω Resistance on [c]FieldPoint Current Input Modules Hardware: FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>FP-AI-100, FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>FP-AI-110, Compact FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>cFP-AI-100, Compact FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>cFP-AI-110
Problem: When I try to measure the resistor between the current input and ground pins of my [c]FP-AI-1x0, I see infinite resistance. Why do I not see 100Ω like the documentation indicates? Solution: The power to the FieldPoint hardware must be on in order to correctly measure the 100Ω resistor between the current input pin and the ground (COM) pin for an analog input current channel on a [c]FP-AI-1x0 module. When the hardware is powered off, the resistance between these pins is infinite. Please refer to Figures 6 and 7 in the operating instructions (see related links below) of these FieldPoint modules for proper current input connection diagrams that also illustrate the 100Ω resistor in question.
