Problem: The NI VLM Version 2.0f4 Installer and Information About the Latest Update. Solution: Why did National Instruments release the patch? We identified a problem where NI VLM permission information is unintentionally removed during the installation of a new license file containing multiple operating systems. To address this problem, NI released a patch to fix the behavior so that no permissions are unintentionally removed. Even if you have not experienced this behavior, we recommend that you install this patch now to prevent the behavior from possibly happening in the future. The patch also updates the Create Network Installer functionality so that you can create Microsoft Windows Vista compatible network installers. The large changes between the Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista operating systems required us to make changes to the way network server information is saved on the client machine. How do I install the patch? You can install the patch by running the self-extracting executable. Close NI VLM before running the installer. You do not have to shut down your license server before running the installer. Note: the patch will not edit your license file or server configuration in any way. How do I update existing Network Installers? To update existing network installers after installing the patch, simply replace the "mslsetup.exe" in the network installer folder with the version of the executable that is found at [VLM Installation Directory] Related Links: Attachments:
