Using the VISA Resource Name to Activate Warp Mode on the PCI-6120/613x

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>S Series>>PCI-6133

Problem: I am trying to use the VIs (linked below) which enable and disable warp mode on my S-series PCI card (6120 or 613x), but they have front panel controls for a PXI VISA resource name.

My card is a PCI card, not a PXI card, how do I find this VISA resource name?

Solution: All of our PCI cards do have a VISA (PXI::) resource name associated with them, but it isn't immediately obvious in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). To discover the name please follow the instructions below:

1. Start MAX on the PC
2. Go through Tools ยป NI-VISA menu and select VISA Options
3. On the General Settings tab, under PXI/PCI and Firewire interfaces select 'Show All Devices Accessible To VISA'
4. On the top menu click Save - you will see a warning about restarting the VISA resource manager
5. Reboot the PC or restart the VISA resource manager
6. Restart MAX, have a look under the Devices and Interfaces, PXI System (Unidentified) tab and you should see all of the installed devices with their PXI::x::INSTR resource name, then the device name following in brackets
7. If you click on the PCI device, and select the 'General' tab in the right hand pane, you can assign a VISA alias to the card. You can use this as an easier reference to the card when you use the resource name to set the warp mode
8. Open the appropriate warp mode VI, click on the down arrow next to the VISA Name in, you should be able to see either the alias you have set or the VISA resource name you have identified for the card.

You should now be able to use the VIs (linked below) to activate the warp mode on the PCI card.
