Creating a Windows Boot Floppy for a PC or PXI/VXI Controller

Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers, VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Controllers, VXI/VME/MXI>>VME Controllers

Problem:
How do I create a boot floppy for my Windows-based computer, PXI controller, or VXI controller?

Solution:
Instructions for creating a boot floppy for Windows 9x operating systems are provided in this KnowledgeBase. Also, additional information on creating boot floppies for Microsoft Windows operating systems can be found on Microsoft's Web site. Please use the appropriate link below for your operating system.

To create a Windows 9x floppy disk, complete one of the following:
  • Place a blank floppy disk in a Windows 9x machine and type format a: /s from a command prompt (this assumes that your floppy drive is configured as the a:\ drive).
  • Go to Start » Settings » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs. From this screen, select "Startup Disk" then click on "Create Disk".
  • If you do not have access to a Windows 9x machine you can visit the BootDisk.com Web site (linked below).

Note: With the exception of the link to BootDisk.com, all of the documents below were found by doing a search on support.microsoft.com.
