Why Does the Visual C++ Reference for the CWUI or CW3DGraph ActiveX Controls Break after I Install Newer Controls in Measurement Studio 6.0?

Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>Visual Basic Support
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: The CWUI or CW3DGraph ActiveX controls that are version 7.0.0.344 or higher have broken the Visual C++ help on my machine with Measurement Studio 6.0. The Visual C++ help breaks after I perform the following installation steps:
  1. Install Measurement Studio 6.0
  2. Install LabVIEW 7.1 or another National Instruments product that installs CWUI or CW3DGraph ActiveX controls that are version 7.0.0.344 or higher. (Note that LabVIEW 7.1 only breaks the Visual C++ help when launching the help from the CWUI control. Link works correctly when launched from the CW3DGraph control).
  3. Drop a UI or 3DGraph control in an ActiveX container such as Visual Basic.
  4. Right-click on the control to open the context menu and select Help.
  5. Click the Visual C++ Reference at the top of the page. A message box appears stating, "Selection is not associated with any topics. Please try another selection."

How can I correct this problem?

Solution: There are two ways to correct this problem:

Solution 1:
The Visual C++ link still works if you launch the Measurement Studio Reference from the Start menu: Select Start » National Instruments » Measurement Studio » Help » Measurement Studio Reference.

Solution 2:
  1. Go to the Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs.
  2. From the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, choose NI Measurement Studio 6.0 and click the Change button. This will launch the installer.
  3. From the Application Maintenance dialog box in the installer, select Repair and click Next.
  4. Click Next on the Ready to Repair the Application dialog box to start your installer. The Visual C++ help on the Overview topic should work now.
