How Can I Write a Digital Waveform To File? Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-HSDIOPrimary Software Version: 1.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software:
Problem: I have a digital waveform that I am trying to write to file. However, there does not seem to be a file structure in the File I/O palette that supports the digital waveform. What file structure should I use? Solution: The necessary file structure is called NI Hierarchical Waveform Storage. It is installed with the NI-HSDIO driver. It is used to specifically write a digital waveform to file. To find this file structure in LabVIEW, first go to the NI-HSDIO palette which is found in the Measurement I/O palette. Then, choose either Dynamic & Static Acquisition or Dynamic & Static Generation followed by the NI Hierarchical Waveform palette. Examples on how to use the HWS file structure can be found in the NI Example Finder. First, Acquire and Save to HWS File.vi is an example on how to save your digital waveform to file after you have acquired it. Second, Read HWS File and Generate.vi is an example on how to read your digital waveform from the file and then generate it.
