Multiple Activation Requests with National Instruments SoftwarePrimary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Base PackagePrimary Software Version: 1.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Occasionally, my computer will ask me to activate even though I have already activated several times on the same computer. How do I fix this? Solution: National Instruments products' activation revolves around the Computer ID. The Computer ID is based on the physical (MAC) address of the network card by default. In situations where multiple network cards are in use on the same system, several Computer IDs might create conflicts, resulting in deactivation of National Instruments software. If either a network card is replaced or multiple network cards are present, the changing MAC addresses might result in unactivated software. In this situation you might receive the error message Activated for a different computer in NI License Manager (Start»Programs»National Instruments»NI License Manager):![]() In order to remedy this situation, contact National Instruments support (www.ni.com/ask) so that a Computer ID can be generated which is based on the hard drive serial number of your computer rather than the physical (MAC) address.
