Can I Use the TIMEOUT/TIMEOUTALL Option in My Option File When Serving NI Licenses Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I read in the FLEXlm End Users Guide that there are options called TIMEOUT and TIMOUTALL. Can I use these options when serving NI licenses either via FLEXlm or NI Volume License Manager (VLM)? Solution: The TIMEOUT and TIMEOUTALL options are not supported by the NI license daemon. If you have a client that should have released a license but has not, the recommended method for overcoming this is to stop and start the server. All the clients will then grab a new license from the server, and any licenses that were checked out by clients which have been disconnected (i.e. they do not have disconnected licenses but are physically disconnected from the server) will be reclaimed by the server. The problem with doing this is that clients connecting during the server restart will not be able to check out a license.
