How Can I Change the Size/Style of Text Overlays on the CVS?

Hardware: Image Acquisition (IMAQ)>>Compact Vision System

Problem: I am using a CVS to acquire high-resolution images (greater than 640x480). When I attempt to overlay custom text or the results of a Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI), the text appears, but it is too small to be read easily. What can be done to increase the size or change the style of the overlay text?

Solution: On RT systems, the font is read from an image file named font.png which (for the CVS) is located at: C:\VISION\font.png. This file is also stored on your host computer and was installed when you downloaded software to the CVS from MAX or from VBAI. The file location on the host is typically: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\RT Images\Vision\7.1.1\font.png.

You can replace this image file on the CVS with another one and change the font style or size if necessary. There are, however, several key points to be aware of:
  1. You need to use fixed-space fonts (for example Courier, Lucida, Terminal...)
  2. The font is cached and you may need to reboot the CVS for the new font to be taken into account.
  3. Vision only supports one font on RT at a time.
In the .zip file attached below, there is a new font image that may be more appropriate when attempting to display a high resolution image (you will need to rename the file to font.png) and a VI that will allow you create your own font files.
