What Does IMAQ Create.vi Do, and Why is it Important?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-IMAQ
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have used the IMAQ Create.vi to prepare for image acquisition, but I have other VIs that seem to require more IMAQ Create.vis (for example the Extract Color Planes.vi or any VI with "Image Dst." and "Image Src." inputs). Why is this?

Solution:
IMAQ Create.vi creates a place in temporary memory (RAM) for an image to be stored while calculations are done on it. Thus a new location is needed for every Image or part of the image that will need to be stored or displayed separately. Multiple IMAQ Create.vi are required if, for instance, you do different processing on the same image and want to display separately, or if you are separating color planes.

If you call IMAQ Create.vi 3 times, then it will set aside three places in memory for images:

This would be required if you wanted to pull two color planes out of an image. The first IMAQ Create.vi would create a place in memory for your main image. When you acquire the image it will be placed in that part of memory. Then when you extract the two color planes, you would send in the three IMAQ Image lines from the three IMAQ Create.vis. Now the main image, and each of the two color planes would be stored separately in their own memory locations.
