Why Does the DAQPad-MIO-16XE-50 Self Calibration Take Up To 75 Seconds?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQ
Primary Software Version: 7.2
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices>>Multifunction DAQ>>DAQPad-MIO-16XE-50

Problem: Why does the self calibration routine take around a minute to return when the manual states a few seconds?

Solution: It is normal for the self calibration procedure to take up to 75 seconds on the DAQPad-MIO-16XE-50. The manual incorrectly states it should take only a few seconds. It is very dependent on the speed of the computer, and also the type of parallel port configured. A standard Centronics port will take longer than an EPP port due to the slower communication rates.
