Is There a Way to Import/Export PXI Trigger Lines to External Connectors?Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI
Problem: I want to synchronize separate PXI chassis or access the signals on the trigger lines in the PXI backplane through external connectors. Is there a way to do this? Solution: By using the NI 6653 Timing and Synchronization Module a user can access the signals on the PXI backplane trigger lines and route them to external connectors. The NI 6653 enables a user to pass PXI timing signals between two or more PXI chassis. The NI 6653 can route signals to and from the front panel, the PXI star trigger, as well as the 8 PXI/RTSI triggers. The NI 6653 also can route a 10 MHz clock from the CLKIN to the PXI 10 MHz reference clock, or it can lock the OCXO to an external reference clock and send that to the PXI 10 MHz reference clock. The NI 6653 can route either the OCXO or the PXI 10 MHz clock to CLKOUT. For more information about the NI 6653 Timing and Synchronization Module refer to the NI 6653 User Manual linked below. NI-Sync is the driver software, an application programming interface (API) for controlling the NI PXI-6653 module. For more information about this driver and the fundamentals of developing applications with NI-Sync refer to the NI-Sync User Manual below.
