Programmatically Printing Alarms and Events in Lookout

Primary Software: Lookout
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I have a Lookout process where I'd like the user to print the alarms and events for that day using a push button. How can I programmatically print alarms and events in Lookout?

Solution: This can be done using the Print data member in the global object $Alarms. When TRUE, Lookout prints alarms as configured in the Print Alarms and Events dialog box.

If using a push button object, you can create a connection to the data member following these steps:
  1. Right-click on $Alarms within your process in the Object Explorer and select Edit Connections...
  2. Double-click on print as the writable member and $Alarm.print should then appear left of the equal sign
  3. Navigate to the desired push button object in the signals window
  4. Double-click on the object to paste it into the yellow expression field
  5. Press Accept and Quit

Now whenever the push button is TRUE, Lookout will print just as when printing alarms and events manually.

For more information, reference $Alarm Data Members in the Lookout Help file. (Lookout Objects»Global Objects»$Alarm)
