Error 32 When Installing Disk 2 or 3 of My National Instruments Software

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
What do I do if I get an Error -32 message when installing the 2nd or 3rd installation disk for my National Instruments Software?

Solution:
This problem is created when the installer looks for the second or third disk but other software on the computer causes it to incorrectly see that a previous disk is still inserted.  The installer gives Error -32.

This is commonly caused by CD/DVD burning software. If you have CD/DVD creating software utilizing Drive Letter Access (DLA) and are experiencing this error, you can update your Drive Letter Access (DLA) Software.

DVD-ROM and DVD+/-R file systems are in what is called Universal Disk Format (UDF). DLA is software installed by certain applications to allow dragging and dropping of files onto a CD/DVD drive to create a disk. DLA uses a version of the UDF format to write to its disks. It detects and examines UDF volumes inserted in the drive. There is a documented bug in Roxio/Sonic DLA Version 5.2 build 09a which has to do with problems ejecting a disk written in UDF format. When a disk is ejected DLA appears to not correctly pass the update to Windows; this bug shows up as the icon and volume label of the disk not always being updated when disks are swapped.

If this does not work, a workaround is to copy the installation CD/DVDs to folders on the local hard drive of the target computer. For example, copy the entire contents of each of the LabVIEW/NI Dev Suite DVDs to folders you create, such as "LVDVD1," "LVDVD2," etc. Then, run the autorun.exe file on the first CD/DVD and install from the hard drive just like from the CD/DVD. When prompted for additional disks, navigate to the folder containing the files from the next disk instead of inserting the disk itself.
