Can I Access One Hardware Channel with Two Virtual Channels?Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQPrimary Software Version: 7.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: Utility Software>>Server Explorer
Problem: How can I use two virtual channels to read the raw voltage value and the scaled value of the same hardware channel? Solution: For example, if you want to read a thermocouple value using a virtual channel and DAQ OPC and also want to read the raw voltage value of the same hardware channel with a different virtual channel, the Server Explorer Wizard does not allow both channels to validate and read. Only the first channel validated comes up as a valid tag. This behavior is expected. If you are working in LabVIEW and try to have both channels in the same scan list, you receive a –10401 error. You can have multiple virtual channels address the same hardware channel, but you cannot have multiple virtual channels access the same hardware channel in the same acquisition or same scan list. To read the raw and scaled value at the same time, you must use another hardware channel. Then, set up virtual channels such that you have one virtual channel per hardware channel.
