LabVIEW Crash When Closing Project or Mass Compiling

Problem: Why do I see the attached fatal error message and what can I do to keep from losing work?

Solution:

In some cases, closing a project using the NI SoftMotion Development Module can cause LabVIEW to crash with Fatal Internal Error : "LinkObj.cpp", line 683 (see attachment for example of error message). In addition, mass compiling a folder containing NI SoftMotion Development Module components consistently causes LabVIEW to crash. To avoid losing any work National Instruments recommends the following:

  • save any other unsaved VIs or projects before closing an NI SoftMotion Development Module project
  • avoid mass compiling a folder containing NI SoftMotion Development Module components

This problem will be corrected in an upcoming version of the NI SoftMotion Development Module.
