Problem:
What audio performance issues are associated with using DSK 6713 and LabVIEW DSP, and what can be done to reduce them?

Solution:
Audio performance can suffer when using the 6713 DSK because the 6713 DSK uses JTAG (IEEE 1149.1) to communicate with the host computer. The JTAG protocol does not allow data transfer while the processor is running, which means the processor must be halted and restarted before any data transfer can occur. This halting and restarting can introduce discontinuities in the audio performance.

The discontinuities can sometimes be heard in real-time or by looking at a snapshot. Turning off front panel updates will allow better audio performance, as it avoids the halting and restarting associated with communicating back to the host.
