"Remote System Configuration Failed" Error When Selecting DHCP as the IP Address Source In MAXHardware: FieldPoint
Problem: I have a FP-20xx and I deleted almost all the files inside it using FTP. Now, when I connect to it using Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), the IP address comes up as 0.0.0.0. If I try to assign the address using the DHCP server, it will give the error "Remote system configuration failed", and will not allow me to assign an IP dynamically. Solution: This error will happen if you do not have the FieldPoint Control Environment and the LabVIEW RT module version 7.x installed in your FieldPoint controller, which is required for DHCP. In order to fix this, you need to assign a static IP address (ask your IT department for a temporary address you could use) and reboot the FieldPoint controller. After that, go to the Software tab and reinstall the software. Make sure you install LabVIEW RT 7.x system, since previous versions do not support DHCP. When it finishes, it will reboot the controller a second time and when it comes back you will be able to change the Network Settings to you will obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
