Can I Use the TB-2705 Terminal Block With the NI PXI-6704?Hardware: Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Analog Output Devices>>PXI-6704
Problem: I know that the TB-2705 terminal block can be used with some 68-pin devices such as E Series Data Acquisition devices and certain waveform generation cards, such as the NI PXI-6713. The NI PXI-6704 also has a 68-pin connector, so can I use the TB-2705 with it? Solution: Even though the TB-2705 connects to 68-pin devices, it only exposes 62 screw terminals to the user because it consolidates six digital ground pins into one screw terminal. The pins that it consolidates are 7, 12, 13, 15, 39, and 44. On E Series and certain waveform generation devices, all these pins are DGND. On the NI PXI-6704, however, these pins correspond to distinct signals (see table below). Therefore, you will lose access to these signals with the TB-2705.
For the reasons shown above, National Instruments does not recommend using the TB-2705 Terminal Block with the NI PXI-6704. Instead, we recommend one of our 68-pin terminal blocks, such as the SCB-68.
