Execution Difference Between GPIB-ENET and PCI-GPIB

Hardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PCI-GPIB

Problem: My program works fine with the GPIB-ENET, but when I run the same exact program on my PCI-GPIB card, the instrument hangs and I get errors. I try looking at the calls in NI-SPY but when I use that, the program works again.

Solution: The problem you are experiencing is one of pacing. Moving from the ENET to the PCI card has decreased the lag in your system. Your instrument may have needed that extra time to reset for the next command and is now hanging due to commands being transmitted at the wrong time. To fix this add some waits in your program between all the instrument commands. The amount of delay needed will depend on the requirements of your instrument.

Note:Upgrading your computer to one with a faster processor will cause the same problem: the same solution will apply.
