Why do I Get An Error Message When I Install a Volume License File into NI VLM?
Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License Manager
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I received a volume license file from National Instruments and when I install the license file into NI VLM, I got an error message that says:
Error installing the license file:
<directory> <license file name>Why do I get this error and what can I do to fix it?
Solution: This error could be generated for one of the following reasons:
- A volume license file has been installed into NI License Manager instead of NI Volume License Manager. All volume license files should be used within NI Volume License Manager. Only single-seat licenses for application software (licenses for only 1 computer) should be installed using NI License Manager. NI Volume License Manager is a software tool used for license management and is available free of charge to those enrolled in the Volume License Program.
- Installing a volume license file for a new version of NI VLM into an old version of NI VLM. For example, if you attempt to install a NI VLM 2.0 license file in NI VLM 1.0, you will see the error. At this point, you should upgrade to the newest version of Volume License Manager. To download the latest version of NI VLM, see the Related Links below.
- The volume license file does not contain the permissions to use any version of NI VLM. In the license file, there should be a line that starts similar to:
INCREMENT VLM_Core nilm. If this line is not present, please contact the NI Agreements group by emailing agreements@ni.com
Note: NI VLM 2.0 license files will work with NI VLM 2.1.
If you still have problems with your license file, please email
agreements@ni.com with a description of the problem and include your most recent license file and debug log.
