What Causes Fatal Error KERNEL.146500 When Booting My RT Controller with a Floppy?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time Module
Primary Software Version: 7.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am trying to boot my Real-Time (RT) controller using a format or boot floppy. I am getting the following error message:

Fatal error KERNEL.146500: incompatible kernel interface version
User program stopped at exception: 3

This is sometimes followed by some register status information, and the following additional message:

Fatal error KERNEL.146080: System halted.
ETS monitor halting with error code 2003.

What is wrong?

Solution:
The format or boot floppy is incompatible with the version of the operating system (OS) that is on the controller. If the controller has been recently upgraded to a newer version of LabVIEW Real-Time through Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), ensure that the boot disk being used is a new Boot Disk. To create a new boot disk in MAX, select Tools»RT Disk Utilities»Create Your System Boot Disk.

If problems persist, you may need to delete the c:\ph_exec.exe on the controller and then try again, ensuring that you are using the proper Boot Disk version as described above.

If your RT controller was previously configured to boot directly into the RT OS without a boot disk, you will need to select the Create Your System Format Hard Drive Disk in MAX from the Tools»RT Disk Utilities menu. Use of the Format Your System Hard Drive Disk will require a keyboard and monitor to be connected to your Real-Time controller. After booting the controller with the Format Your System Hard Drive Disk and completing the process, remove the floppy disk and reboot. At this point, the RT controller should be unconfigured. Once fully configured, the system should be functional.
