Problem: How Do I Uninstall an Instrument Driver?
Solution: The uninstallation steps depend on the type of driver you have installed. If you do not know what type of driver you have installed, follow the instructions for IVI Drivers.
IVI Drivers
- Go to Start » Programs » National Instruments » IVI and launch the IVI Driver Install Manager.
- Highlight the driver you would like to uninstall and click Remove.
- If your driver does not appear in the list, then it is likely that you have a traditional driver. Close the IVI Driver Install Manager and follow the instructions for the Traditional Drivers.
Note: If you do not see the Instrument Driver Install Manager, you can get it with any IVI driver we support. This tool currently works only with IVI-C drivers for which NI build installers. Once you download one of these drivers the Instrument Driver Install Manager will appear in the location mentioned above.
Traditional Drivers
- For LabVIEW drivers, go to ..\LabVIEW\instr.lib and delete the folder that contains your instrument driver.
- For CVI drivers, go to C:\vxipnp\winnt or C:\vxipnp\win95 and delete the directory that contains you instrument driver. (Note: IVI driver files used to install in the C:\cvi\instr directory, so you may need to check this directory instead.)
Note: You cannot install both the CVI and the LabVIEW instrument driver for a particular instrument. Only one IVI driver per instrument can be installed at a time.
