LabVIEW Internet Toolkit G Web Server (HTTP Server) Runs Very Slowly

Primary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>Internet Developers Toolkit
Primary Software Version: 5.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I can successfully launch the G Web Server (HTTP Server for Internet Toolkit 5.0 or older), but it takes an unusually long time to return requests for HTML pages and image requests such as .snap and .monitor. Sometimes it takes several minutes to return the page I request. What causes these delays?

Solution: The G Web Server is trying to use DNS to look up hostnames but cannot find a DNS server, which causes significant delays. If you do not have access to a DNS server, disable DNS lookup on the G Web Server.

Complete the following steps to disable DNS lookup.
  1. Select Tools»Internet Toolkit»G Web Server Configuration. The G Web Server Configuration dialog box appears.

  2. Click the Advanced tab. Remove the checkmark from the Use DNS checkbox.

  3. Click the Save button to save the configuration settings.

  4. Click the Done button to close the dialog box.

If you are using version 5.0 or older of the Internet Toolkit, access the HTTP Server Configuration dialog box from the Tools menu. In LabVIEW 5.x, select Project»Internet Toolkit»Internet Toolkit Configuration (ITK 5.0) or Project»Internet Toolkit »Configuration»HTTP Server Configuration (Internet Toolkit 4.0.1).
