Pin Assignments for Compact FieldPoint and Compact RIO Custom Cables

Problem:
I am using Compact FieldPoint, and I am creating my own custom connector. How can I access the individual channels from a Compact FieldPoint module, such as the cFP-AI-100?

Solution:
The mapping of a pin to the channel of a module is confidential to NI. However, the individual channels can be accessed apart from a connector block through one of the Compact FieldPoint Accessories, specifically the SH37F-P-4, Female to Pigtail Shielded I/O Cable (part # 778620-04).

Regarding Compact FieldPoint modules, it is also possible to access these channels by directly connecting to the D-SUB 37-pin connector (terminal block slot) on the backplane via a custom cable. The terminal assignments listed in the manual for your desired module correspond to the pin number on the D-SUB 37 connector.

To correlate the terminals of a cFP-AI-100 with the SH37F-P-4, compare the pinout tables from the Operating Instructions of the AI-100 (Table 1 below) and the Operating Instructions for the SH37F-P-4 (Table 2 below).

For example if you wanted to connect a wire to V_in of Channel 0 V_in for a cFP-AI-100, Table 1 indicates that Channel 0's V_in= terminal 1. Table 2 shows that SH37F-P-4's pin 1 = Black. Therefore, Channel 0 V_in correlates to the black wire of the SH37F-P-4.

Note: The SH37F-P-4 can be used with certain cFP OR CompactRIO units. The tables above are simply for the cable wire numbers and color mapping. Please refer the the specific device documentation for pinout details.
