Can I Install Software On My FieldPoint Controller Without Having LabVIEW Real-Time?Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FieldPointPrimary Software Version: 6.0.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time Module
Problem: I have reformatted the internal CompactFlash memory on my [c]FP controller. When I go to Add/Remove Software, I see one of the following: 1. I do not see LabVIEW Real-Time in the list of software to install. 2. I see a message stating "LabVIEW Real-Time provides the core Real-Time Engine. You must have this component installed to be able to use any other software component." 3. When I try to install the NI-FieldPoint driver or any other software, I get dependency errors stating that I need to have LabVIEW Real-Time. I don't have the LabVIEW Real-Time module. Can I still install the Real-Time Engine and all of the necessary drivers on my FieldPoint controller? Solution: Yes, you can still install all of the necessary software on the FieldPoint controller without having the LabVIEW Real-Time module. You will need to add support for LabVIEW Real-Time to the NI-FieldPoint driver, and support for NI-FieldPoint to LabVIEW Real-Time. When the proper support has been added, you will be able to see LabVIEW Real-Time in the list of software and be able to install all of the necessary software to the FieldPoint controller. The following steps describe the steps for adding support. 1. Add support for LabVIEW to the NI-FieldPoint driver as shown in Figure 1. This can be done using the Device Drivers CD (Figure 1) or the NI-FieldPoint installer (not shown). When this has been added or if it is already present, continue to step 2.  Figure 1
2. Add support for NI-FieldPoint to the Real-Time Operating System as shown in Figure 2. This can also be done from the Device Drivers CD (Figure 2) or from the NI-FieldPoint installer (not shown). When this has been added or is already present, continue to step 3.  Figure 2
3. Add LabVIEW Real-Time support to the NI-FieldPoint driver. This can be done by modifying the NI-FieldPoint driver installation in the Add/Remove programs as shown in Figure 3. After this has been added you should be able to see LabVIEW Real-Time in the list of software for the FieldPoint target and install all of the necessary software.
