Problem: I have a VRML or STL file from a 3D model. Is there a way to display and control the 3D model on the front panel of my VI? Solution: Yes, the 3D Picture Control VIs have the ability to display a 3D model on the front panel. Using a while loop will allow the 3D model to be controlled, such as rotation and zooming. This is not the same feature as the Sensor Mapping Express VI available in LabVIEW 8.6 and later, which maps real-world data onto a 3D model. This is simply a way to display a 3D model on the front panel and can be done with LabVIEW 8.2 and later. See the attached VI and STL file for an example.
