Passing Data to a LabVIEW VI in SignalExpress

Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 1.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
How can I pass data acquired from SignalExpress to a LabVIEW VI that I have created?

Solution:
First, make sure that the VI you would like to use has been saved as reentrant and that the connector pane has been properly connected to the VIs inputs and outputs. To make the VI reentrant, go to File » VI Properties » Execution and check the "Reentrant execution" checkbox. To view the connector pane, right-click on the VI icon in the upper right hand corner and choose Show Connector.

After you have created the step that acquires and/or processes the data that you would like to send to LabVIEW, follow these steps:
  1. Add a User-Defined Step.
  2. Browse to the VI you would like to use and click "Open".
  3. Click "Connect Input" and a list will populate with available data types to send to this VI. If you do not see anything in this list, most likely the datatype your VI accepts as an input is different than the output of your steps.
  4. Click the blue down arrow on the Input Signal drop down list to choose which available output from previous steps you would like to send to the VI. See the picture below.
  5. If your VI has any outputs, they will automatically show in the "Outputs" window.
  6. Click "Close" when you are finished configuring your step.
Note: To see information about supported signal types, click "Show Help" while configuring a User-Defined Step. If you are passing acquired data to your VI, the VI must be setup to accept a waveform input.
