Why Can’t I Access the FieldPoint Items from the FieldPoint OPC Server?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>DSC Module
Primary Software Version: 8.5
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FieldPoint

Problem:
I have installed FieldPoint I/O Server support from NI-FieldPoint. I can see the FieldPoint controller in  Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), but when I browse to the OPC client I cannot see the FieldPoint controller.

Solution:
If  you have installed support for FieldPoint I/O Server and you can see the Compact FieldPoint in MAX, make sure that the .IAK configuration file is saved there as well.  FieldPoint I/O Server is an optional component in the NI-FieldPoint Installer.

Please, follow the next steps to be sure that the. IAK configuration file has been saved.

  1. Open MAX by navigating to Start»All Programs»National Instruments»Measurement & Automation.
  2. Click on the + to the left of Remote Systems to expand the section.
  3. Under Remote Systems, right-click on the FieldPoint and select Find Devices.
  4. Press File»Save all.
  5. Close MAX.

At this moment you should be able to access the FieldPoint tags from FieldPoint I/O Server.
