Serial Ethernet Support for Simultaneous Connections from Multiple Computers

Hardware: Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>ENET-485/2, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>ENET-485/4, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>ENET-232/2, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>ENET-232/4

Problem:
Can multiple computers connect to an ethernet serial device (ENET-232 or ENET-485) at this same time?

Solution:
Your ethernet serial device will support multiple connections, provided that they are not attempting to open the same port at the same time.

For example, if you open a HyperTerminal session for Port 1 on one computer, and then you attempt to connect to the same port from a different computer, you will receive an error; however, if you connect to Port 2 from the second computer, then the ethernet serial device will allow the connection. You will be able to communicate with the device on Port 2 without interrupting the first computer's connection to Port 1.
