Error: Unable to find the table '[SYS_USER_MASTER_DATA]' in the corporate db.

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 10.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Ultiboard

Problem:
When I launch Multisim, I get an error message as shown below and after I click on the OK button the program starts but I don't have any component in my corporate database.

The error dialog reads: "Unable to find the table '[SYS_USER_MASTER_DATA]' in the corporate db. User fields for master db components will not be saved."

Solution:
There were minor changes made to the Multisim Corporate database from version 10.0 to 10.1 and if you installed Circuit Design Suite 10.1 and then changed the corporate database path to the 10.0 corporate database location, you will get the above error message when launching Multisim.  To fix this problem, you should change the corporate database path back to the default location and use the database merge utility to bring components from 10.0 to 10.1, please follow the steps below to setup your corporate database:

  1. Launch Multisim, press the OK button if you get an error message
  2. Select Options»Global Preferences»Paths
  3. Change the corporate database path back to the default location:

    Windows XP:
     C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.1\database\CPComp_S.prd

    Windows Vista:
     C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.1\database\CPComp_S.prj

An empty corporate database is attached, you can download the file to your machine and change the corporate database path to the location where you saved the downloaded file.

  4. After setting the corporate database path back to the default location, press Apply and then OK to close the Preferences  dialog
  5. Close Multisim and start it back up
  6. Select Tools»Database»Merge Database
  7. Click the Select a Component Database Name button
  8. In the Look In area, navigate to your 10.0 corporate database path
  9. In the Files of Type area, select the Corporate (cpcomp_s.prj) option and then press Open
  10. Press the Start button to begin merging the corporate database
  11. Once you have finished merging the database, you can move the corporate database anywhere on your network.
  12. Point the corporate database path to where you just moved it again by going to Options»Global Preferences»Paths.
