Problem: I have a 26.5 GHz RF switch that I had been using for a previous project and I would like to minimize the amount of new equipment I need for my new project. Can I simply use my 26.5 GHz switch for this application even though the frequency will not be anywhere near 26.5 GHz? Yes. It is important to remember that the 26.5 GHz value listed is actually the bandwidth of the switch. One may certainly use switches with higher bandwidth values for applications operating at lower frequencies. In order to evaluate the attenuation over the entire spectrum, it is important to evaluate the insertion loss plot in the product's specific detailed specification document. Here is an example of an inseration loss plot of the 26.5 GHz switch.
