Troubleshooting SCXI-1200 Configuration Problems
Hardware: SCXI>>Modules>>SCXI-1200
Problem: My SCXI-1200 fails the resource test in MAX or my SCXI chassis fails to verify.
Solution: SCXI-1200 Fails the Resource Test
- Before you test your SCXI-1200, make sure that the chassis is turned on and the parallel port cable is properly secured on both ends.
- Make sure that an LPT port is properly assigned to the SCXI-1200.
- The LPT port should have an input/output range and interrupt request (IRQ) assigned. Disable any DMA (Direct memory access) for the LPT port.
- The starting addresses of the parallel printer ports, in the order assigned to LPT designations, are 3BC, 378, and 278 hex. Therefore, if you have installed all three ports, 3BC hex is LPT1, 378 hex is LPT2, and 278 hex is LPT3. If you have not installed port 3BC hex, port 378 hex becomes LPT1 and port 278 hex becomes LPT2. If only one parallel port is present, it is LPT1. The SCXI-1200 can use the parallel port hardware interrupts for interrupt-driven data acquisition. Interrupt levels 7 and 5 are commonly used for parallel ports. Refer to your computer's technical reference manual for details about configuring interrupts for your system. You can change the input/output range of your LPT port from your Control Panel.
- Assign a different LPT port to your SCXI-1200.
- To check that your LPT port is working correctly, please connect a printer to that LPT port and try to print.
- If the printer works correctly, the problem could be a bad SCXI-1200 or a bad cable. Replace if you have spares.
- If that doesn't work, turn off your chassis and close Measurement and Automation explorer (MAX). Now turn on your chassis again and launch the MAX again and perform another test.
SCXI Chassis Fails to Verify
- Make sure that the SCXI-1200 passes the test first. If the SCXI-1200 fails, please follow the steps above.
- If SCXI-1200 passes the test, check to make sure that other modules are plugged in correctly.
- You could have a bad module or a bad chassis.
