NI-Serial Diagnostics Failures on One or More Serial PortsHardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers
Problem: One or more of my serial ports fail interrupt test in my NI-Serial diagnostics. However, Windows continues to detect new serial hardware each time my computer boots. Why is this happening, and how might I remedy it? Solution: NationaI Instrumentsserial boards, including the RS-232 and RS-485 boards, generally share the same base IO address and IRQ. Windows 3.1 and DOS require you to use serial boards with non-shared interrupts. NI serial boards designed for these operating systems require one interrupt for each port. Make sure that you set one interrupt for each port If one IRQ is required for each port and the correct board is not installed, the hardware may still be detected and some ports may even pass the NI serial diagnostics tests. Typically, however, one or more of the ports will fail the interrupt test in NI serial diagnostics.
