Error 10613 When Configuring NI 6503 (DAQPad-6508) Card

Problem:
Why do I get an error code 10613 when I configure the ports of my NI 6503 (DAQPad-6508) card as inputs and outputs within Traditional NI-DAQ Devices in MAX?

Solution:
Error 10613 occurs when you specify a line transfer direction that is not supported by the specified channel, or if you have performed an operation on a digital port or line configured for the opposite direction.



Digital I/O (DIO) boards can have individual ports configured as either inputs or outputs. All 8 lines of a given port are configured collectively and cannot be configured individually as an input or an output, except for high speed DIO boards (NI 655x family). The test panel for NI 6503 (DAQPad-6508) in Traditional NI-DAQ has an option to set any port as an input or an output. If you set a port as an input and an output at the same time by selecting the number of the port on both input and output pull down menus, error 10613 will occur.



You will also get the error if you try to configure all three ports on NI 6503 card as outputs in Traditional NI-DAQ. This issue can be resolved by using NI-DAQmx rather than Traditional NI-DAQ. Please note that DAQPad (USB) devices are only supported through Traditional NI-DAQ.
