OPC Interface for LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module Not in the Server Explorer

Problem:
I have installed the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module, but I don't see its OPC Interface in the Server Explorer.

Solution:

The OPCLabVIEW server is not visibile because it is not registered, or LabVIEW DSC 7.1 or earlier are not being used. The OPCLabVIEW server was replaced by the Shared Variable Engine for sharing data in LabVIEW DSC 8.0 and above.

The LabVIEW DSC Module 7.1 installs the OPC interface automatically. You don't have to make any special selection during installation process. However, the OPC interface is not registered by the installer. It is registered by the DSC Module upon first execution. You need to run the module at least once to get the 'OPCLabVIEW' available in the Server Explorer. If you have done so, but the interface is still not available, try to run the following VI:

[Path to LabVIEW 7.1]\vi.lib\lvdsc\Srvrlibs\Opc\Register OPC Server.vi

Make sure the Register (T) button on the panel is pressed.

Note: If the button is released you will unregister the interface. You can use this if you want to reregister the interface.

If this does not help the DCOM settings on the computer may be incorrect. Refer to the Microsoft web site for more information about DCOM.

Note: The LabVIEW DSC Module 8.x is significantly different than the DSC Module 7.x. Refer to the Release Notes below to learn about the changes.
