Problem: Why does my cFP-DI-304 return incorrect data when performing a single FieldPoint Read? Solution: This is a known issue that affects revision C and earlier Compact FieldPoint cFP-DI-304 modules. If a cFP-DI-304 is returning data either to an application running embedded on a Real-Time controller or from a cFP-180x over a serial connection, a single read may not return the current states of the module channels. You likely will not notice the problem if you are performing repeated reads (i.e. inside a loop). If a host PC is communicating with the cFP-DI-304 over Ethernet, the problem may appear as a significant delay before data is correct. In other words, after the module channels change state, a single read over Ethernet will return the current states if there is sufficient wait time before performing the query. National Instruments has developed a utility that can upgrade the cFP-DI-304 firmware and correct this problem. You need a Real-Time controller and certain software to run the utility yourself. Use the table below to determine if your hardware / software will support the utility and to download the appropriate version. Instructions on using the utility are included with the download.
