What Does The Lookout "Waiting on TimeService" Error Mean?

Primary Software: Lookout
Primary Software Version: 5.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When I try to load Lookout I get a error window that says Waiting on TimeService, and I must click OK or Cancel. If I click OK, nothing loads. If I select Cancel, Lookout shuts down. If I don't click OK or Cancel, a window eventually pops up and says TimeService not responding. How can I get Lookout to load correctly?

Solution:
The Citadel time service may not being starting automatically. To start it manually in Windows XP/2000 perform the following steps:
  1. Right-click on My Computer and select Manage.

  2. Expand Services and Applications » Services. The services will be located in the window on the right in alphabetical order.

  3. Start the Lookout Time Synchronization Service (or National Instruments Time Synchronization Service) by right-clicking the entry and selecting Start or Restart.

If you cannot manually start Lookout Time Synchronization Service, then it may not be installed properly. Install the latest version of Logos, also linked in the Related Links section below.

If the service does not respond to the Restart command, try to disable the service and re-enable it after restarting the computer.

To disable the service, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click on the service and select Properties.
    2. Select the Log On tab.
    3. Select Disable.
    4. Select OK.

Note: This will disable the service, and when the computer is rebooted, it will have to be restarted manually as described above.

  4. If you successfully start the service manually, you may also want to change the startup type from Manual to Automatic.

  5. Verify that the Lookout Classified Ads and the Lookout Citadel Server Services are running properly using the same methods in step 3.
Once all three processes are loaded and running properly, Lookout will load without the Waiting on TimeService error.
