Parallel Port DAQ Device Installation in Windows 2000
Hardware: Legacy DAQ Devices>>Multifunction DAQ>>DAQPad-1200, Legacy DAQ Devices>>Multifunction DAQ>>DAQPad-MIO-16XE-50
Problem: How do I install my parallel port DAQ device in Windows 2000?
Solution:
- Attach the DAQPad to your computer's parallel port and power on the DAQPad.
- Go to Start » Settings » Control Panel » Add New Hardware. You will see a screen saying "Welcome to the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard." Click on "Next."
- The next screen gives you the option to "Add/Troubleshoot a device" or "Unplug/Uninstall a device." Select the first option and click on "Next."
- Next, Windows will display a list of devices present in the system. Since you are installing a new board in the system, select the "Add a new device" option at the top of the list as shown below. Click on "Next."
- You will see a screen asking "Do you want Windows to search for your new Hardware?" Select "No, I want to select the hardware from a list." Then click on the "Next" button.
- The next window asks "What type of hardware do you want to install?" You should select "Data Acquisition Devices" as shown in below.
Note: If you did not install the NI-DAQ driver, then you will not see the option to install a Data Acquisition Device.
- Next, windows will ask you to select your device from a list of non-Plug and Play devices. In the screen shot below, a DAQPad-1200 is being installed.
- You will see a message that "Windows will use default setting to install the software for this hardware device…" Click on "Next." The next dialog box informs you that the hardware has been added. Click "Finish."
