Error 0xc0000022 at nidevmon.exe

Problem:
I have recently installed National Instruments LabVIEW and the Driver CD onto my Windows Vista or Windows XP machine.  When I boot my PC, I receive the following error message:

Error 0xc0000022 at nidevmon.exe

Then I cannot use any National Instruments hardware. What can I do to remedy this?

Solution:
Windows Vista:
This issue can be fixed by disabling User Account Control (UAC) in Vista.  Follow these steps to disable UAC.  Note that you must be an administrator to make these change on your PC.
  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Under User Account and Family settings, select Add or remove user accounts.
  3. Click on your user account.
  4. Under the user account, select  Go to the main User Accounts page.
  5. Under the Make changes to your user account section, select Change security settings.
  6. Deselect Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
  7. You may need to reboot your PC.
Windows XP:
The most common cause of this issue on Windows XP machines is third party firewall or Anti-Virus software. Ensure that the nidevmon.exe application is placed within the trusted applications section of the security software you're running.
